Musky are being taken by trolling in southern Lake St. Clair in
Ontario waters, and near 8-mile road and Strawberry Island in Michigan waters. Perch
and walleye reportedly are biting in and near the shipping channels. Smallmouth are
being taken in the western lake near weed lines and around Grosse Ile in
the Detroit River.
July 28, 2004
Some walleye are coming from the St. Clair River and some better catches
from the Detroit river and Lake St. Clair. In the lake they are coming
from many locations, primarily around weed beds. Muskie action has also
been good on the lake. Good catches of perch have been reported from the
Metro Beach and Fair Haven areas of the lake and in the shipping
channel.
July 2, 2004
In Lake St. Clair some bass are being taken. Perch and walleye have been
best in and around the shipping channel. A few northern pike have come
from near FairHaven. In the Detroit River walleye and perch have come
from areas near some of the islands and good catches of walleye have
been reported from the Ambassador Bridge area. In the St. Clair river
good catches of walleye have been reported from the Marine City area and
the areas around Marysville and the mouth of the Black River.
June 24, 2004
In Lake St. Clair the best fishing is for muskie and smallmouth bass.
Some walleye have been reported on the Ontario side. Perch have been
taken while fishing for other species. Largemouth bass have been coming
from near the islands in the Detroit river.
June 8, 2004
In the Detroit River good catches of walleye, perch and white bass
have been reported. Watch for debris including trees and logs being
washed downstream.
In Lake St Clair some walleye are being taken in
waters off Metro Beach and northern pike are being taken in the
shallows.
In the St Clair river some walleye are reportedly being taken, and
there are reports of smelt still running.
May 16, 2004
In the St. Clair River walleye are biting near Port Huron and close to
St. Clair. In Lake St. Clair walleye are being taken in the north
channel, at casino windsor, and near the mouth of the Clinton River. Northern pike are
biting in the shallows near New Baltimore and Fair Haven. Salmon have
been caught in the north channel by trollers. Black crappie are biting
at Metro Beach and above New Baltimore. Perch fishing has been slow. In
the Detroit River good catches of perch are coming from the area of
Stoney Island and walleye fishing is reported to be good in several
locations along the river.
May 11, 2004
In the St. Clair river walleye fishing has been fair and a few salmon
and brown trout have reportedly been taken. In Lake St. Clair walleye
fishing has been improving and bluegills are being caught near the
island. In the Detroit River walleye fishing is better in the southern
parts of the river and some white bass are also being taken.
May 1, 2004
A few perch are being taken in Lake St. Clair. Some northern pike have
been taken in the lake and in the Detroit river. Walleye are providing
moderate successes in the St. Clair and Detroit rivers. Salmon and
steelhead are also being taken in the St. Clair River.
April 16, 2004
Some perch and smallmouth and a few northern have been caught in Lake
St. Clair. In the St. Clair River a few smelt have been taken off the
walls at Port Huron. Some salmon and steelhead have also been taken in
the river. Walleye fishing has been somewhat spotty in the Detroit River
with some getting near limit catches and others not fairing so well.
April 2, 2004
Walleye are being taken in the Detroit River by jigging and hand lining.
Northern pike are also being taken in the Detroit River. Some perch are
biting in Lake St. Clair, and salmon are hitting in the upper St. Clair
River.
